This logo is one of my early designs for a series called Marvel Zombies back in 2006. Marvel recently announced a “Marvel Zombies” series for Disney Plus and revealed a modified version of the logo (right). It looks like they riffed off the lettering in “ZOMBIES” to create the new “MARVEL,” which helps separate it from the Marvel Studios logo.
